Keeping Sacred Time: Devotionals for the Christian Year

Holy Week marks a high point in the Christian year. At the end of our Lenten pilgrimage, we slow down to walk day by day in the footsteps of Jesus as he confronts the powers of sin, evil, and death.

In his progress through betrayal and arrest to crucifixion and death, Christ opens up for all who follow him a pathway of unbroken trust in God. Holy Week culminates in our celebration of Christ’s resurrection on Easter Day, when Jesus’s way of suffering is revealed as nothing less than God’s victory over death. We participate in Holy Week to let our lives be shaped more deeply by the gospel and to share more completely in the life Jesus gives.

Locally produced byVenn Foundation, this resource is designed to help churches, small groups, households, and individuals enter into Holy Week. Part of Venn’s Keeping Sacred Time devotionals, it follows on from our series for Lent. These beautiful cards will lead you from Monday to Saturday of Holy Week, culminating in Easter Sunday. For each day, there is a psalm, followed by a gospel reading of Jesus’s final days. On Easter Day, there is a Scripture reading, a reflection, a question to ponder together, and a collect (a short, written prayer). This pack also includes a description of Holy Week and some suggestions of how to use this resource.
